Hi,

I think Simon has answered Tyler's questions better than I would have
done myself — thanks!

I confirm that https://anonscm.debian.org/git/pkg-utopia/dbus.git is
a very good example of what I had in mind. Not only it tracks multiple
upstream branches, which can be useful e.g.:

 - when I upload a new upstream release to Debian experimental instead
   of sid, for example when Debian testing is frozen;
 - when preparing a SRU, Debian stable proposed-update, security
   upload or similar.

… but it also now tracks multiple downstream distros, e.g.
ubuntu/bionic :)

If you folks have more questions I'm happy to answer them.

I'll try hard to prepare by the end of the year a realistic PoC
Vcs-Git (with upstream/2.11.x, upstream/2.12.x, debian/stretch,
debian/master and possibly ubuntu/$something branches). I won't bother
rewriting history to pretend we've been using this model forever: I'll
instead focus on setting up the framework I have in mind for our
_future_ work.

Cheers,
