This is one plugin that we ought to double check is working and easy to
install. It's one of the features of Git that people find pretty useful.

FWIW, there's a good chance we'll be bundling more plugins as "standard"
in the future (like HG does) and this one ought to be seriously
considered as a candidate for that IMO.
