If you wait a few hours, the latest bzr.dev ought to
have the updated and hopefully clear help on eol.
I explicitly mention the 'exact' vs 'lf/crlf' topic btw.
I had always leaned towards 'exact' as the answer (as
you're arguing IIUIC) but I agree there are edge cases
where the others can play a useful role.

It's also worth mentioning that content filters can *only*
convert content today. There is no support there for
rejecting it. Precommit hooks are the answer to the
latter IMO.
