I've read this thread twice now. I appreciate all the information and  
view points.

I am a firm believer in "Release Early, Release Often".

Robert, PQM the branch.

This is 1.14rc1, let get eyes on it (aka all bugs are shallow), we  
have time before 1.14final, sooner people can see the code the more  
time there is to fix any problems.
