I would agree, and I'm glad the Bazaar team share this view.

I look forward to being able to save a lot of time by using existing
identities to interact with Launchpad. Until then, it's more feasible to
use my existing identity here on the mailing list.

(Heck, I'm even attempting to download the Launchpad source code to see
whether I can help make it happen. But it keeps failing, hundreds of
megabytes through the download. That's a topic for a different time
though.)
