Honestly, I don't think it is worth the time and effort to make an
official 1.18.1. Those two fixes aren't regressions versus 1.17 or any
prior versions. They were bugs we've had all along. And those features
landed in 2.0 just as well as they landed in 1.18+

Those are *really good* changes, but they are features and not
regression bugfixes, so IMO don't qualify for a backport release.

Obviously Alexander feels differently as he landed the changes on that
branch so he could build a 1.18.something for himself. That may be
enough to justify rolling 1.18.1 for everyone else...
