Getting the word out about Bazaar 2.0 - ask your friends to try it!

A few people have asked on IRC for a benchmark they could reference to
show their friends that "I'm not making it up - Bazaar 2.0 really does
rock!". Here's one I did last night: http://bazaar-vcs.org/Benchmarks.
We still need to analyse the data a bit more but the 10 second summary
so far is ...

Bazaar 2.0 consistently beats Mercurial 1.3
Bazaar 2.0 vs Git 1.6 is a tight contest for many projects

Note: I've only had time to benchmark space efficiency, not network
efficiency, not memory efficiency, not performance of dozens of
workflows on dozens of operating systems on various hardware mixes. So
it's not comprehensive by any means. OTOH, disk space usage is pretty
core because it drives other interesting stats (like time to transfer
over a network). As far as performance goes, we're hopefully approaching
the point where Bazaar is fast enough on 99% of projects, even if
Mercurial is faster sometimes and Git is faster more often than not. If
we're not fast enough for your project, please tell us.

There's also a myth that Bazaar is a Canonical-only tool and that most
developers don't know it. That's true in some circles but not in
general. See http://bazaar-vcs.org/BzrPopularity. (Again, there are
endless potential problems with download stats and popularity contents
but it's the best data we've got that I know of.)

If you haven't already, please take one of the Visual Tours we've put
together for GNOME, KDE, Windows or Mac OS X. These are available from
our great new website: http://bazaar-vcs.org/en/.

Learning and using Bazaar is easier than ever so ask your friends to
give it a go and help us spread the word. We look forward to the
feedback, both positive and negative, to help us improve things further
in the future.
