OK, Ben - so I should look at Mercurial, which I have not seen. So my so far
silent enthusiasm for Bazaar is apparently based on:

1. my ignorance
2. the ability of bazaar to be easily applied locally as well as with external
repositories.
3. the excellence of documentation and support
4. my perception of a relation of Bazaar to ubuntu to which I moved fairly
recently from SUSE which has even stronger associations with a commercial
enterprise than Bazaar
5 my conviction that nothing under the sun is perfect, anyway

Thanks for your considered response and I will remain ignorant of Mercurial -
no time to chase every rainbow. Ben, you have convinced me that should Bazaar
go "belly up", there always is Mercurial.

Al.
