Since it hasn't been mentioned, this is https://bugs.launchpad.net/bzr/+bug/172383, which is old and rotting. It saddens me bzr seems to have no intention of fixing this in any way (not that it would be the exception, pretty much no one handles this -- hint: possible competitive advantage).
