So I had a chance to play with 'bzr shell' a bit. And I have to say, I
certainly recommend it. I personally wanted to customize the prompt
command, which wasn't trivial to do, but I got it done.
Anyway, the real win here is startup time. As a point of comparison
(this is adding the 'time' command functionality, which
# Run in my checkout of bzr on Windows
> time bzr st
0.366s
> time st
0.062s
These are also the 'best' times. First runs were 0.516s, and 0.250s.
Similarly for 'bzr log -r -10..-1', w/ 0.5s vs 0.07s
It really is quite a surprising effect of making the tool feel *much*
more responsive.
Anyway, for those interested, I would recommend playing around with it.
I know there are people using it today, because I had to include
pyreadline in the Windows installer before it would work for someone.
