HTTP and SFTP are dumb protcols and are expected to be slower
than smart server. Its unfortunate that savannah does not support
smart server for bzr (yet!).
That said, I consider SFTP and HTTP an important feature.
There have been situations when the only access I had to a server
was SFTP. As bzr supported SFTP I was able to use it with such
servers. SFTP being slower than smart server hardly matter if you
don't have permissions to install stuff on the server.
