Can't get bzr-hg to work

I tried bzr-hg for the first time, but it did not want to cooperate.
More specifically, I'm using `bzr' and `bzr-hg' from Debian testing and
tried:

   % bzr co http://mercurial.intuxication.org/hg/ioccur
   bzr: ERROR: Format Mercurial Branch is not compatible with .bzr version Meta directory format 1.
   %

Google does not seem to know this error message, so I'm not sure what
else to try.  Any hint?
