Yes, Ubuntu wasn't accepted, which makes not having applies separately
for Bazaar a little frustrating.

Work along these lines seems reasonable to me. Will discuss in our
standup this week, management changes are making planning a little
difficult at the moment. I'd suggest you try diving in now and making
some changes to get a feel for how bzr development is done.
