That's because (as you acknowledge) you're using the “Reply to author”
command.

You can use your mail client's “Reply to list” command. If your mail
client doesn't have such a command, lobby with the vendor to add it, and
consider switching to one of the many good mail clients which do have
such a command.

Either way, with a proper mail client, there should be no need to
manually change the ‘To’ field.
