We're not talking about adding anything to git at all.

The point is to offload *all* of the backend storage system
maintenance to another, resource-rich project, and building on top of
that.  It shouldn't be a fork for maximum effectiveness.

Now, it surely is possible to use additional metadata; I'm simply
saying that what is desired can already be implemented *in git* and
therefore there is no need to worry that a Bazaar which uses git
storage would lose Bazaar's nice features.
