In the current version of rhythmbox on breezy (0.8.8cvs20050801-0ubuntu1_i386)

When playing a song (in this case, any MP3), the timer does not count (this
includes the one in the tooltip of the tray icon)
Additionally, the seek bar when moved does nothign and simply returns to the 0
position and sets the time to the end of the file in question.
