In Mandrake/Mandriva 10.0 I was pretty confident that I had been using evolution
version 1.4.x or higher -- however the /home directory I preserved dated back
from an RH install I did 2 years ago. To cut the story short, when I installed
Ubuntu Hoary Hedgehog on top of a Mandriva/Mandrake 10.0 installation, I
inherited pretty much all the previous configurations I had from the Mandriva
install (there are a couple of instances when I had to remove hidden directories
just to log into the GNOME Desktop Environment, but that's another bug I have to
file).
Hoary (upon first invocation of Evolution after the migration) noted that I had
settings from evolution 1.2 and that evolution 2.2 had been using a different
settings directory (or something to that effect). It also noted that it has
migrated the settings and that I should be able to remove the old directory from
1.2 manually -- it offered to delete the directory itself, but I opted to try
preserving the directory. To replicate this I suppose you run evolution 1.2
first, then upgrade to evolution 2.2 and then run evolution 2.2.
Regarding the error message, it's a dialog that appears after every successful
sending of an email message. The exact error is:
Failed to append to file:///home/mikhail/evolution/local/Sent: No provider
available for protocol `file'
Appending to local `Sent' folder instead..
TIA and HTH
