Summary: [breezy] hal-device-manager does not start on system
startup / pcmcia-ethernet-card does not setup
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: hal
        AssignedTo: martin.pitt at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: bjoern at fettstrasse.de
         QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

Since yesterday's Breezy-update (Aug. 22nd) I get an error message saying
hal-device-manager cannot start when gnome starts up. I get the message on both
my computers ubuntu is installed on. As far as I can tell there is no problem
with my desktop pc after closing the message window.
My laptop running a pcmcia ethernet device would not set up that network card
correctly as long as I don't enter "System -> System Settings -> Network"
manually. It then set ups correctly.
Both my computers would not save the domain name they are hooked up to.
Once after reboot my laptop displayed an error message telling me something
about a problem with "SIOCGIFFLAGS". Whatever that is...
