Summary: Keybinding sets would be very useful
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: other
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: gnome-control-center

(I'm on latest Breezy)
Allowing choice of pre-defined and user-defined keybindings for keyboard
shortcuts would be very useful, especially for transition from Windows or other
OSs. This would require that the Meta key worked (it doesn't on my laptop with
Ubuntu, and I've seen this is a reported bug).

Pre-defined sets of key bindings could be stored for different laptops: if these
were linked to the hardware detection mechanism, the special keys, as well as
any perhaps non-standard normal keys could all be assigned automatically.

At least, the user should be able to return to the default settings after
messing up his own. It is not obvious that once a user has started to change a
key binding that he or she should press escape to leave it as it is; otherwise,
they feel forced to change it, and if they are looking at a load of hex codes,
getting back to the previous value is not obvious.
