ion2 has no --replace option. I've solved the issue by just adding ion2 to my
startup programs in gnome. It doesn't work flawlessly, but it works "good
enough" and I don't know enough about the internal workings of ion2 and
gnome-session to figure out how to correctly fix the issue. You can close this
bug as far as I'm concerned. Thanks.
