It appears that this bug may have been caused by VMware 5.5.  Not that I was
running under VMware, but merely that it was present (it's services and modules
loaded).

I wasn't able to run with debug enabled because my computer started crashing
around the time I installed VMware.  It took me a while to see that it was
VMware that was causing all the trouble, but stopping the vmware service stopped
the crashing and seems to have allowed n-c-b to run just fine.

Is it true that n-c-b needs cdrdao to copy CDs?  Does audio CD copy simply not
work in a base Breezy install?
