Thanks for your bug report. Which version of Ubuntu and gnome-applets do you
use? If you use Breezy, you might want to try to install a patched package from
http://people.ubuntu.com/~dholbach/gnome-applets/packages/

gnome-applets_2.12.1-0ubuntu1battstat_i386.deb  and 
gnome-applets-data_2.12.1-0ubuntu1battstat_all.deb  should suffice on i386.
