this upload fixes the issue:

 gdm (2.8.0.1-0ubuntu2) breezy; urgency=low
 .
   * debian/patches/01_xconfigoptions.patch:
     - use "-br" for "X_CONFIG_OPTIONS".
   * debian/patches/02_default_config.patch:
     - update of the default config to list the users (Ubuntu: #12395).
