Summary: Applications menu doesn't draw cleanly
Product: Ubuntu
Version: unspecified
Platform: i386
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: gnome-menus
AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
ReportedBy: vincent.trouilliez at modulonet.fr
QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com
I noticed that when you click on the gnome menu to open the Applications menu,
the menu is not drawn leanly, so to speak. If you pay attention to the bottom of
the menu, as it being drawn while you press the mouse button, it looks like the
menu "bounces" a bit. It's like the menu is drawn a tiny little bit too long,
and half a second later, it is redrawn slightly shorter (maybe 2 or 3 pixels,
not more). It's hard to explain, I hope the above made some sense somehow.
I am sure that Warty didn't have this problem, I think it appeared with Hoary.
Also, this strange behavior is only observed when you open the Applications menu
for the FIRST time. After that, it open normally/cleanly. So in practice, this
means you only get to see it when you log-in. Or if you change your Applicaitons
menu and issue a "killall gnome-panel" to reload the menu, etc.
I posted on the users list, and people confirmed the problem, although it
appears that most didn't actually notice the problem until I pointed them to it...
