Ubuntu | gtk+2.0
Summary: inconsistent directory naming
Product: Ubuntu
Version: unspecified
Platform: All
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: gtk+2.0
AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
ReportedBy: madman at linux.bydg.org
QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com
I'm concerned about Directory naming in gtk+/gnome. Since gnome runs mostly on
UNIX based systems, it should use unix terminology. A directory in (some) gnome
applications and libraries is called a 'folder', which is a Microsoft name for a
directory.
Other applications and libraries (the console ones, the whole KDE, Mozilla,
Firefox, OOo etc.) refer to directory as directory. This can be confusing,
especially for new users.
I think the whole system should have consistent naming schemes, and directory
should be called directory _everywhere_.
