..because nautilus is the desktop, and if it crashes with no windows open, and
you get one when it is restarted, it just feels wrong.
In the other case, when you actually HAD a window open it's half-wrong because
it will show your home folder, not the one you were in before it crashed (ftp,
samba, sshfs etc).

In the first case what you do is close the new window, which is bad in the sight
of usability engineering, in the second it could save the user 1 click to start
the folder, but what makes sure he wants to continue doing what he did. If it
was ftp, he will want to start it from the desktop for it's only one click, not
navigating the menu for it, which a lot of users probably don't know the mounted
ftp is in there aswell..

Hope you see my point, there is probably no perfect solution for it to apply to
all cases, except for nautilus not to crash in the first place :)
