Thanks for your bug. I would say that's a getent issue. 

The package does

"        if getent passwd gdm >/dev/null; then
                deluser gdm
        fi
        if getent group gdm >/dev/null; then
                delgroup gdm
        fi
"

Any suggestion of what to change? should we ignore deluser/delgroup return code?
