Thanks for your reply! Yes, I did, but it did not zoom. But this behavior seems to be caused by the xorg-fglrx-driver from 
the archive.ubuntu.com-repository. Since I installed the proprietary ATI-fglrx-drivers 8.19.10-1 zooming works again. Now 
when I zoom in, at the bottom of the totem window some horizontal stripes appear which grow the more I zoom in, until they 
cover the whole screen.
