I just tried again.

Gedit: 6 seconds before I see the filechooser
gnome-btdownload: 9 seconds before I see the filechooser.

I tried to create a new user and these were my timings:

Gedit: <1 seconds before I see the filechooser
gnome-btdownload: 3 seconds before I see the filechooser.

I don't know what's so different about my home directory.
