when the reload dialog is open run the instance from the command line with gdb:
- gdb /usr/lib/gnome-applets/mixer_applet2
(gdb) run
then click on reload
(gdb) <Ctrl-C>
(gdb) thread apply all bt

Then copy the backtrace to a comment
