Can you please show me the CD-ROM entry in your /etc/fstab? (If you are unsure,
just attach the complete file here).

Can you please try to comment out the CD-ROM entry in /etc/fstab by putting a
"#" sign in the first column and give me the output of

 pmount -d /dev/hdc

?
