Summary: Unmounting USB devices shows that device is unmounted
even though the unmount is not complete
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: gnome-media
        AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: nick.allen at onlinehome.de
         QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

Ubuntu does not mount my mp3 player with the sync option so the files are not
copied to it immediately but are
cached for writing instead. This is fine and actually good for performance. When
the device is unmounted though
Linux copies the files that are cached to the device. This can actually take a
long time (minutes) yet the panel applet and the computer (in places menu) show
the device as already unmounted. What is needed is a dialog to inform the user
that the unmount is in progress and then when it is complete that the user can
safely remove the device.
