Ubuntu | totem-gstreamer
Summary: Needs more cache when playing radio streams
Product: Ubuntu
Version: unspecified
Platform: i386
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: totem-gstreamer
AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
ReportedBy: c.elkjaer at gmail.com
QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com
>From time to time I experience that totem-gstreamer runs out of cache when
playing internet radio streams. However, that is nowhere to specify in the
application. The player repeatedly stops playing, refills the cache and plays a
little. The GUI even becomes somewhat unresponsive.
An example:
http://64.236.34.196:80/stream/1005 (smoothjazz.com)
I can play the above with e.g. MPlayer without any problem. I noticed that
MPlayer has a default cache of 312 KB.
Would it be possible for Totem to automatically increase the cache if it runs
out of cache?! Even better, perhaps in time before it runs out of cache?!
If totem is to become the default audio player and things should Just Work then
this might be a thing to care about.
