Summary: X sometimes not restarting properly after zapping it
                    (Ctrl+Alt+Backspc)
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: i386
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: gdm
        AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: axel at banzais.org
         QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

If you kill the X server using Ctrl+Alt+Backspace, normal behavior is to go back
to the gdm login screen. But sometimes X is simply killed and we are sent back
to the console. The gdm process is not dead but I have to do 'sudo
/etc/init.d/gdm restart' to get the gdm login screen again.

I'm using the breezy nvidia drivers if that helps.

This is not something I can reproduce reliably, so I suspect it might be a race
condition of some kind with gdm.
