Summary: Unable to create a link on a smb share through the GUI
           Product: Ubuntu
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: nautilus
        AssignedTo: seb128 at ubuntu.com
        ReportedBy: ialexei at gmail.com
         QAContact: desktop-bugs at lists.ubuntu.com

There is a fundamental flaw with the Copy paste mechanism in Ubuntu. Coming from
a WinX background (as would most people), I would expect a paste shortcut /paste
link option when I copy and paste something.

I stumbled across a blocking issue when I had to create a shortcut to a
directory on a Samba share. The only option I had close to what I was expecting
is 'paste link', which was supposed to create a symbolic link to the directory.
In this case it failed because I did'nt have write permission on the share.

Current Resolution: Install smbfs (does not get installed by default) and do a
mount -t smbfs...to manually mount the share to a directory on the user's home.

Correct Resolution: Have a paste link/paste shortcut option in the popup menu
after you have copied something.
