Uh, actually pmount is supposed to prevent this, and indeed that works fine for
me. I need some debugging information from you:

 * killall gnome-volume-manager
 * Remove the hard disk, wait some seconds, reattach it
 * pmount -d /dev/sda5 usbdisk > sda5.txt
 * pmount -d /dev/sda6 usbdisk > sda6.txt
 * mount > mount.txt
 * cat /proc/mounts > procmounts.txt

and please attach sda5.txt, sda6.txt, mount.txt, and procmounts.txt here.
