OK. This is strange.
My GDM worked perfectly OK with the circles in the password field.
When I moved fonts.dir to fonts.dir.del in the above directory GDM started to
crash on the first character entered in the password field.
When I moved the file back to fonts.dir GDM was totally unimpressed and kept
crashing - even after a reboot.
Only a change from circles over to stars in the password field made GDM usable
again.
I have no clue whatsoever why this still happens. Please tell me how I can get a
backtrace of GDM (I couldn't find gdm-dbg in my package list) and I'll provide
you with one.
