Public bug reported:
Affects: hal (Ubuntu)
Severity: Normal
Priority: (none set)
Status: Unconfirmed
Description:
I just downloaded and installed Ubuntu today. Everything went well.
After I got the desktop going(Standard) I had 23 updates waiting for me.
One of those was a kernal update. I'm just guessing this was the one
that caused the error. After the updateds installed, I was told to
reboot the computer as soon as possible. I did and when the desktop
loaded, an error window popped up:" HAL failed to initialize". I took a
screen shot of it. I did this because I could. Can't do that in windows.
I'm happy with the distro, but I think I need to get HAL going. I read
something during installation and I think HAL is a configuration program
for something-or-other.
Thanks
Rick Ellis
