Public bug reported:
Affects: gnome-session (Ubuntu)
Severity: Normal
Priority: (none set)
Status: Unconfirmed
Description:
The logout dialog has way too many buttons.
When I select 'Shutdown' from the menu I get to choose from:
Logout (ok'ish)
Switch user (what does this have to do with shutting down?)
Lock (Lock Screen is already in the System menu and also has nothing to do with shutting down)
Sleep (Doesn't work on my machine)
Hibernate (Doesn't work on my machine)
Restart (ok)
Shutdown (ok)
So basically when I choose the seemingly simple item called 'Shutdown' I
get a huge dialog with 7 options of which 4-5 are useless to me.
It would be very handy to at least be able to remove the buttons I don't
want in the dialog. And if the ability to sleep and hibernate could be
autodetected and only shown if usable, it would be even better.
