I tested this too, and indeed with a tiled wallpaper even flat color transparency causes yellow panels. If the wallpaper isn't tiled, or is big enough to fill the screen even when set to 'tiled', the transparency works fine. I'm not sure if this would count as same bug, altough it sure is related.
