This is Ubuntu dapper, updated earlier today - Totem 1.4.0. Console output:
** (totem:29407): WARNING **: Trying to connect to an older version of the GNOME screensaver
** Message: Couldn't read lirc config.

This error didn't used to happen, I've no idea what could've triggered it
