[Bug 39791] deskbar-applet is crashing after last update

Description:
Hi,
about a week ago, there was an update for the gnome-deskbar package (as well a nvidia-drivers and some other stuff).

Since this update, I am having problems running specific applications with the deskbar, for example gaim, gedit, totem.
However, xchat and opera start flawlessly from the deskbar.
The version is: "Deskbar 2.14.1".

PS: Could you maybe consider recommending a reboot after a nvidia-package update?
Because the nvidia kernel module and the nvidia-client library will be different so that opengl applications refuse to work unless rebooted / restarted xorg and reloaded the nvidia module.

This is my first bug report, I hope it was sufficient.
