Public bug reported:

Affects: nautilus (upstream)
       Severity: Unknown
       Priority: Unknown
         Status: Unknown
Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
1. Drag and drop the link to "Home" from the Places menu onto the desktop.
2. Attempt to drag a file into the resulting link to the home folder.

This fails (I think) because of bug #3337.

What should happen, I think, is that when I drag and drop the Home
folder from the places menu onto the desktop, nautilus should set the
gconf key /apps/nautilus/desktop/home_icon_visible to true. That would
enable the user to copy files to the link.

Given that that gconf key is not very obvious for the user, it might be
quite common for a user to try dragging and dropping the link from the
Places menu in this way, and it should work.
