It does use screensaver, now that it doesn't crash immediately. And works great!

Here's the server window output:
[15:30]--- Unknown MODE flag
[15:30]--- [NickServ] is away (Gone, for more info use WHOIS NickServ NickServ)
[15:30]-NickServ- NickServ does NOT exist on this net!
[15:31] Screensaver activated, going away.
[15:31]--- You have been marked as being away
[15:32] Screensaver is off, welcome back
[15:32]--- You are no longer marked as being away
