Public bug reported:
Affects: gtk+2.0 libgtk2.0-0 (Ubuntu)
Severity: Normal
Priority: (none set)
Status: Unconfirmed
Description:
For some gtk2 based applications like rhythmbox and gthumb, they don't
strip accelerator keys in form of (_?) where '?' is a single character.
This kind of accelerators are used mainly in Asian languages (CJK,
Indic, etc). The following image shows such situation:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=55934
This bug was already discussed and fixed on gnome cvs head, please refer
to the following gnome bugzilla report:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=323956
However, it looks like the fix won't be backported to gtk 2.8.x (or at
least not soon enough to be included into dapper), so it might be better
not to wait for new official gtk release.
And more info. The fix in gnome cvs itself is not complete, because it
failed to strip anything if the accelerator key occurs in the middle of
string. I have attached a patch again CVS head into aforementioned gnome
bug report.
