Public bug reported:

Affects: gconf2 libgconf2-4 (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
During the dist-upgrade performed from breezy, I received the following
error message while attempting to dpkg --configure libgnome2-common (and
other packages previously as well):

gconftool-2: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libgconf-2.so.4: undefined
symbol: g_slice_alloc0

And thusly, dpkg exits with error 127.

Let it be known that I am running kernel 2.6.13.4 (gcc 3.3.5 (Debian
1:3.3.5-8ubuntu2))

I do not recall whether this particular kernel was one I built from
source or one that was installed by the Ubuntu update manager.
