I've uploaded a patched package for that to dapper-proposed for now.
That apt source is not listed by default but apparently can be used as a
stagging area to test packages before uploading to dapper-updates, I
would prefer have some feedback on the package before uploading to
dapper-updates

   * debian/patches/010_xkb_events_filter.patch:
     - backported patch from GTK 2.10, make applications react only when they
       get an useful event and not every time a modifier is pressed
