i am hoping on having this patched in edgy or good reasoning on why this patch is a bad idea against this release.
that attached patch is a slightly altered version of the upstreams version to make it cleanly apply against the edgy version.

i don't wish to ship unapproved alterations to gstreamer without
guidance. without this patch, gstreamer's libvisual is inconsistency
between dapper/feisty vs edgy.

i've been running this myself for a week now and i personally haven't
managed to find any regressions in it (i've been using the
visualizations daily).
