[Bug 75415] [feisty] it crashes applets when closing gnome

Public bug reported:

I've noticed that when closing X (reboot or shutdown or logout) the
applets which stay in gnome-panel (gaim, bluetooth, volume) sometime
crash randomly. So, at the following login I can see the bomb-icon that
tells me there had been a crash!
