Public bug reported:
Nautilus does did not give an error message when copying two files with
similar names except for capitalization from a case-sensitive file
system (ext3) to a case-retentive file system (fat32).
This is important since many removable drives are set up as fat32 for
maximum interoperability.
To reproduce:
1. Setup 2 partitions. Partition1 should be ext3. Partition2 should be fat32.
2. Create 2 files in partition1 with the names filetobecopied and FileToBeCopied
3. Using nautlus, drag and drop the two files to a directory in Partition2.
Result: The first file is copied over, and nautilus silently fails to
copy the second file.
Expected result: The first file is copied over, and nautilus gives an error message with the following options:
A. Abort the copy process.
B. Overwrite the first file with the second file, continue copying any other files.
C. Give the second file a new name, continue copying any other files.
** Affects: nautilus (upstream)
Importance: Unknown
Status: Rejected
** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: Unconfirmed
